Thank you for choosing Moving Hub. The following Terms and Conditions govern all moving services provided by Moving Hub (referred to herein as the “Carrier”). By booking our services and placing a deposit, you agree to these terms in their entirety. Please read them carefully before your move.
Moving Hub is not a broker. We are a licensed moving carrier with our own professional crews and competitive, transparent pricing. When you book with Moving Hub, you are hiring a real moving company — not a middleman.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
You may cancel your move penalty-free with a full deposit refund if you submit a written cancellation within three (3) business days of signing the Bill of Lading, in accordance with 49 CFR § 375.505(h).
After the three-day window, your deposit is non-refundable and the order may not be cancelled. Once Moving Hub has begun any physical moving service — including packing, loading, storage, or transportation — cancellation is no longer available.
Moving services will not begin until you have signed the Bill of Lading, which serves as the official contract for service as required under 49 CFR Section 375.505(a). Services cannot be cancelled after your property has been loaded onto the truck.
Pickup & Delivery Schedule
Two Delivery Options
Premium Guaranteed Service (P.G.S.): Pickup and delivery dates are guaranteed when you purchase this optional upgrade.
Standard Service: Your delivery window is up to thirty (30) business weekdays from the first date you indicate as available for delivery. This date is the start of your window — not a promised delivery date. Business days exclude weekends and holidays.
Per diem delay compensation: $30.00 per business weekday beyond the delivery window.
All estimated arrival times are subject to change due to traffic, weather, mechanical issues, or other unforeseen delays.
Important: Do not schedule your move pickup on, or close to, the date you must vacate your home. Avoid booking flights, starting new jobs, or planning events around your estimated dates. We recommend a thirty-day buffer between your pickup date and your required vacate date.
Packing Responsibilities
Unless your booking includes packing services, you are responsible for the following:
• All boxes and fragile items (glass, mirrors, marble, electronics) must be packed and sealed before pickup day.
• Mattresses, box springs, and futon pads must be protected in a mattress box or plastic cover for health and sanitary reasons.
• Personal effects in plastic bags will not be accepted onto the truck.
• Elaborate furniture requiring specialized disassembly or reassembly may need a third-party professional. Inform your coordinator in advance so this can be included in your service plan.
• Disconnecting and reconnecting appliances is not included unless specifically listed in your service agreement.
• Reassembly of items at delivery depends on tool and hardware availability and is not guaranteed.
Packing materials and labor are available at an additional charge and are only included if specifically listed in your service agreement.
Valuation & Liability Coverage
Basic Liability (Included at No Charge)
Moving Hub provides basic liability coverage at the rate of $0.60 per pound per article, as required by federal law under 49 CFR Section 375.701(a). If any item is lost, destroyed, or damaged while in our custody, our maximum liability is limited to the actual weight of that item multiplied by $0.60.
This coverage is considerably less than the average value of household goods. We strongly recommend purchasing third-party moving insurance for comprehensive protection.
Full Value Protection (Optional Upgrade)
Full Value Protection (FVP) coverage is available at an additional cost upon request. This option must be selected before your move begins — it cannot be purchased once services have started. Both basic and full value coverage apply only to items packed or unpacked by Moving Hub. Valuation is not insurance.
Limitations of Liability
For items packed by the owner (PBO), as well as pressed wood/particle board furniture and fragile or brittle items such as glass, china, and ornaments, liability is limited to the basic rate of $0.60 per pound per article regardless of your chosen coverage level.
Moving Hub is not liable for damage to real property not being transported, including but not limited to: walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, banisters, carpets, plumbing, sprinklers, doorways, driveways, walkways, landscaping, or any part of the interior or exterior of a building.
Prohibited items: Moving Hub does not accept and bears no liability for firearms, jewelry, cash, bank notes, financial instruments, hazardous materials, or liquids.
Truck Space & Inventory Accuracy
Moving Hub reserves truck space based solely on the items and cubic footage listed in your service agreement. Your booking covers only the specific items listed — not your entire home.
If you add items on moving day that were not included in your original booking, space may not be available. You will only be charged for items actually picked up and transported. Items left behind due to lack of space will not be charged.
Moving Hub will make a reasonable effort to arrange a second pickup for any remaining items but is not obligated to do so. The best way to avoid space issues or unexpected charges is to provide your coordinator with a complete and accurate inventory of everything you plan to move.
Claims Process
In the unlikely event that items are damaged, missing, or you believe you were overcharged, Moving Hub must be given the first right to investigate and respond in writing before any other action is taken.
Filing deadline: All claims must be submitted in writing within nine (9) months of delivery.
Requirements: Claims must include proof of ownership, value, and weight for each item. All damages and missing items must be noted on the inventory logs at the time of delivery.
Payment prerequisite: All outstanding balances owed to Moving Hub must be paid in full before any claim can be processed.
Moving Hub reserves the right to inspect and repair any item for which damage is alleged.
Parking & Building Requirements
Parking
You are responsible for confirming parking availability and restrictions with your building management or local authorities at both your origin and destination addresses. If our truck cannot park within a reasonable distance due to physical limitations or parking regulations, Long Carry or Shuttle Service fees will apply.
Certificate of Insurance
Some buildings require a Certificate of Insurance from the moving company. Check with your building management at both locations and notify your Moving Hub coordinator in advance. A fee may apply depending on building requirements.
Utilities & Appliances
All utilities and appliances must be turned off and disconnected from electric, gas, and water connections before moving day. Moving Hub does not disconnect or reconnect utilities or appliances.
Furniture Transportation
All furniture drawers must be emptied before the day of your move. Furniture with full drawers will not be transported due to the high risk of damage to the furniture and to your property.
Unless you have purchased the Exclusive Use of Vehicle option, your shipment may be consolidated with other shipments during transit. Property may be temporarily stored or transferred between vehicles as part of standard logistics. Moving Hub may also utilize rental vehicles during peak moving season to supplement our fleet.
Dispute Resolution
If a dispute arises, arbitration is available as a voluntary alternative to litigation, in accordance with 49 CFR Section 375.211. Arbitration allows both parties to present their case to a neutral third-party arbitrator.
Key arbitration details:
• Proceedings are conducted via written submission and, at the arbitrator’s discretion, by phone.
• Each party pays 50% of arbitrator costs and 100% of their own expenses, including attorney fees.
• Filing fee: $250 per party, plus a $50 administration fee.
• If arbitration is chosen, the decision may be binding and generally cannot be appealed.
• All decisions are based exclusively on governing U.S. federal law.
If litigation becomes necessary, any lawsuit must be brought in circuit or county court in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Both parties consent to jurisdiction in North Carolina.
